A call came in to fire crews at 1:17 p.m. on Monday for reports of a barn fire.
Quickly firefighters went to the 4000 block of Sarasfield Road in Navan and confirmed a full structural collapse of a barn that housed animals. A working fire was declared to dispatch additional resources to the scene.
All the animals had evacuated, officials said in a release.
This is in an area with no hydrants so crews used a water shuttle system to bring water from a source to the scene. An advanced hose line was added to the barn to quickly douse the flames.
Large propane tanks and a diesel tank were on the property, which forced firefighters to deal with the hazardous materials.
The blaze was under control by 1:50 p.m. and an investigator was dispatched to the scene to determine the cause.
