A person travelling through Ottawa on Hwy 417 is now facing charges at a minimum of $2,000, six demerit points and one year driving suspension after being caught speeding at 175 km/h Friday night.
Ottawa OPP recorded the incident around 9 p.m. near the Moodie Drive exit and the driver immediately faced a 30 day suspension and their car has been impounded for 14 days.
OPP are admonishing drivers, warning that this level of speed is incredibly dangerous, especially during inclement weather. Friday saw a significant amount of rainfall into the night.
The incident marks an increasing number of stunt driving charges laid on Hwy 417 this year.
