Body of missing person found in Eganville

The body of a missing man has been located in Eganville.

On Friday, Oct. 18, police entered into an investigation after a person was reported missing from Orillia, Ont.

Due to their disappearance their vehicle was registered on the police database and patrol officers located the unoccupied vehicle in an Eganville parking lot near the Bonnechere River on Sunday, Oct. 20.

The vehicle was located following an alert from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) integrated with the police cruiser’s in-car camera.

Following an extensive search, the missing persons body was located in the Bonnechere River on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Foul play is not suspected.

The investigation is ongoing by the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP with assistance from OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, OPP Aviation Services Unit, Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), and the Renfrew County Crime Unit.

The investigation is being conducting in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
