The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) are looking to identify a person of interest in relation to the unsolved homicide of Leo Santostefano of Ottawa from 2021.
Police say on June 4, 2024, officers attempted to complete a traffic stop of a vehicle in the area of Greenbank Road and Hunt Club Road. The driver of the vehicle pulled a u-turn to escape police as they approached the vehicle for investigation. The vehicle was later found abandoned.
Police are describing the vehicle in question as a black Ford Mustang. A forensic examination was done on the vehicle and police say the driver or occupant of the Mustang is of interest to the 2021 homicide.
Police are now looking to identify a person of interest linked to this vehicle and possible the murder of Leo Santostefano. The person is described as follows:
- Black male
- Between 6′ and 6’5″ in height
- Large build
- Wearing black and white tracksuit, black shoes and possible designer glasses
The body of Santostefano was found on a snowmobile trail in the Richmond area on March 7, 2021. Shortly after, police were on the lookout for a 2008 silver Nissan Altima. CityNews has reached out to police to find out if that vehicle is still of interest.
