Police have laid charges in a multi-vehicle collision that sent five people to hospital on May 31.
It happened just before 4:00 p.m. on Highway 417 near the Carp Road exit. According to police, a vehicle travelling eastbound crossed the centre median and went into oncoming traffic, after striking a vehicle it caught fire.
A young child died and two other individuals suffered life-altering injuries due to the incident.
Of the five people hurt in the serious crash, one was airlifted to a trauma centre.
On Oct. 16, police charged a 25-year-old woman from Ottawa with:
- Careless driving cause death
- Careless driving cause bodily harm x2
She is set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice in November.
