Counterfeit $20 bill used at Pembroke business

Provincial police are investigating after a counterfeit bill surfaced at a Pembroke business.

The counterfeit $20 bank note was used at a business on Pembroke Street East, and upon realizing it was a fake, the manager reported it to police on August 1.

The counterfeit bill was seized by police and the investigation is continuing.

No other recent incidents of counterfeit money have been reported in the area, but the OPP would like to remind all residents and businesses to perform their due diligence when paying or accepting payment in cash.
