Police caught a driver speeding in the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane on Highway 417.
It happened Nov. 20, when officers pulled over the driver who was going 58 km/h over the speed limit on the highway. They were also driving in the HOV lane alone.
To top it off, police said the vehicle was not insured.
The driver now faces a minimum of $7,000 in fines upon conviction and a stunt driving charge, which comes with a 14-day vehicle impound, possible six demerit points and a one-year driving prohibition.

The same day police also caught another driver going 153 km/h. They now face the same stunt driving penalties.
Officials are urging people to slow down, especially as the weather drops and surfaces become slippery. Provincial police are also kicking off the “festive R.I.D.E campaign” which aims to reduce impaired drivers everywhere.
The campaign starts Nov. 21 and will continue until Jan. 1. Members of all the detachments across the province will focus on checks over the holiday season.
“Impaired Driving is a leading cause of collisions on our highways, and a threat to public safety in our communities,” a press release reads. “There are many options to avoid driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs: take a taxi, call a friend, stay over, or have a designated sober driver.”
