Provincial police stopped a driver on Highway 417 after they crossed over the double lines into the high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane.
It happened on Tuesday afternoon and OPP say they have received complaints from the public of drivers using the HOV, or carpool, lanes that are not eligible.
“A reminder that vehicles must have two or more people in it or have a green licence plate to be eligible,” police note in a post on X.
Motorcycles are also eligible.
The driver stopped received a $110 ticket, as well as, two demerit points for disobey sign. They could be added three demerit points upon conviction.
