East region OPP respond to over 70 collisions in 14-hour time period

As snow continues to fall across the region, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking motorists to slow down and drive to the weather conditions.

East Region OPP responded to over 70 collisions between 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 and around 8 a.m. Thursday, April 4.

The majority of those crashes involved vehicles in the ditch and most involved no injuries, however the OPP says minor injuries were reported in a few incidents.

Meantime, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) has the same message.

In a post to social media, the OPS confirmed responding to 28 crashes Thursday morning alone.

As of 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Ottawa firefighters said they had responded to over 50 collisions.

You’re asked to be prepared for a longer drive as you travel to your destination.

“Give yourself plenty of travel time and leave space between you and other vehicles.”
