Farmer extricated by firefighters from tractor stuck in ditch

Early afternoon in Navan, firefighters responded to a call for an accident with farming equipment.

They arrived at the 2000 block of Giroux Road just before 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Reports noted a farm sprayer in the ditch with the driver trapped inside. Crews confirmed on scene that the front engine and operator area was crushed into the side of a ditch.

The driver was trapped with his legs pinned by the dash.

As a precaution firefighters set up a hose line and began the extrication. Using specialized tools, crews were able to cut the area of the driver’s feet and remove him from the tractor.

Officials then used the hose to “decontaminate” the driver who was covered in fungicide. A slow fuel leak was also coming from the vehicle.

Firefighters left the scene at 3:30 p.m.
