An early morning fire in Orléans has displaced two families and burned a middle townhome.
Crews received multiple 9-1-1 calls at about 1:37 a.m. from people who reported a car and the first floor of a townhome on fire. Officials responded and confirmed a working fire in the 100 block of Parkrose Private.
The front side of the middle-unit was “fully engulfed” in smoke and flames.
Additional resources were dispatched as crews started to fight the fire. The blaze had travelled up to the second flood and into the attic of the home and started spreading to the home beside it. To put out the flames, officials pulled down parts of the ceiling to extinguish the fire inside the attic.
Firefighters searched the building and found no occupants inside.
By 2:36 a.m. the fire was under control, while crews attempted to salvage the possessions inside while ventilating and clearing the scene.
One firefighter sustained a minor injury to their hand.
Victim services were called for the residents of the two townhomes who are now displaced as a result of the fire.
