Firefighters knocked down a grass fire near North Gower Tuesday afternoon.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to the 6000 block of Prince of Wales Drive around 5:20 p.m. after several 9-1-1 calls reporting a grass fire.
Callers reported the fire was around one acre large and approximately 200 feet from a home.
Crews arrived on scene and confirmed that the fire had moved away from the home but had grown in size.
It took about 30 minutes to get the fire under control and firefighters were able to stop it from spreading to a neighboring corn field.
