Firefighters knock down early morning garage fire near Kinburn

There are no injuries reported following a fire between Kinburn and Pakenham.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to the 100 block of Harold Valley Drive around 5:20 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24.

A 9-1-1 caller had reported that the detached garage of a single-family home was on fire.

Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the structure when firefighters arrived, and it was confirmed the blaze was spreading to the home.

A working fire was declared around 5:35 a.m. to dispatch additional resources to the scene, and because the home is located in an area of the city with no hydrants, shuttles were used to bring water to the scene.

Firefighters completed two full searches of the structure and found no occupants were inside.

The fire was declared under control around 6:45 a.m. and the extent of the damage has not been released.

A fire investigator has been dispatched to the scene.
