More snow could be on its way over the next several days.
In the forecast for Ottawa, Environment Canada is noting a lot of possibility to see snow, including Tuesday until the weekend. Each day this week it’s possible snow could fall, the weather agency’s data shows.
On Jan. 14, just as more of the Rideau Canal opens, temperatures and wind are cold in the nation’s capital. It feels like -4 C with a wind chill near -14 C. The gusts are coming from the southwest at 50 km/h, the forecast reads.
There is a 40 per cent chance of flurries in the morning with the possibility dropping over the day. Overnight the temperatures will hover around -16 C.
Wednesday the wind will shift and the temperature is set to drop further. It’s expected to be around -19 C with 20 km/h wind gusts. It is believed to be sunny with a bit of cloud with the chance of flurries returning overnight.
Thursday the wind chill isn’t factored in, but snow persists into the weekend.
Environment Canada is noting Friday could be the warmest base temperature all week with a high of 0 C, but the weather agency isn’t able to predict wind chill just yet.
The winter temperatures have been helpful for teams flooding the canal hoping for a longer season than in the past several years.
