Carol Anne Meehan has thrown her name into the ring to be the conservative candidate for Ottawa West—Nepean.
In a post on X, the former City of Ottawa councillor for Gloucester—South Nepean announced she would be “jumping into the race” seeking the conservative nomination.
“Today I’m watching the news and like so many of you I’m worried about how liberal government policies are hurting Canadians,” she said in a video.
Meehan said that the capital gains tax, immigration policy and the carbon tax are the main reasons for why she wants to enter into the race.
Currently the riding is held Anita Vandenbeld who has been in the position since 2015.
“It’s true, I want to be the Conservative Candidate in the next Federal election,” Meehan said.
Meehan did not seekreelection as a city councillordue to wanting to tackle different pursuits in life. She said in a statement previously that it was a privilege to represent one of Ottawa’s most diverse and fast-growing areas.
