Police say they arrested and charged a 31-year-old woman for impaired driving on Saturday after she hit a tree and crashed into a ditch.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says shortly after 2:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to a single vehicle collision along Highway 416 near Hunt Club. Police say the vehicle had also hit a tree.
Police arrested the driver, Kaitlind Smith, for impaired driving and charged her with:
- Operation while impaired: alcohol and drugs
- Three counts of operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
- Obstruct peace officer
Smith was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
The OPP says they would like to thank members of the public that continue to call in impaired drivers, which helps to keep all Ontario roads safer for the motoring public.
