A member of the Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) has been arrested.
On the evening of Apr. 24, an officer was placed under arrest by Public Security police officers from the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais.
The arrest, which happened while the officer was off-duty, came following an allegation of simple assault.
In order to protect the identity of the victim, the SPVG will not release additional information about the officer in question.
The officer was released with a promise to appear in court.
Once the investigation is completed, the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) will determine whether charges will laid.
Also, in accordance with procedure, the Ministry of Public Security (MSP) has been informed of the allegations against the SPVG police officer.
