Grenville OPP recover stolen vehicle, Ottawa man charged

A traffic complaint in Prescott has led to multiple charges against a man from Ottawa.

On Saturday, Nov. 9, members of the Grenville County OPP received a report of a vehicle being driven erratically on Highway 401 eastbound.

Officers located and followed the vehicle to a store parking lot in North Grenville where the driver was arrested.

According to the OPP, the investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen, and that the driver was suspected of being impaired by drugs.

A search of the vehicle also turned up break-in tools and suspected opioids.

Ryan ABRAHIM, 44, of Ottawa, faces the following charges:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
  • Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
  • Possession of automobile master key
  • Possession break in instruments
  • Dangerous operation
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drug
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – opioid
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused was held for a bail hearing and has since been remanded in custody.
