Hot and wet weather week ahead for Ottawa

The City of Ottawa is off to a very hot start this week where residents will be reaching for the water and sunscreen.

Monday’s forecasted high is 30 C with a mix of sun and clouds and a humidex value of 38.

Environment Canada forecasts Tuesday to remain just as hot with a high of 29 C and a 30 per cent chance of showers. There’s also a risk of a thunderstorm. The humidex value is expected to feel like 35, so another hot day.

There are no weather statements issued for the Ottawa area at this time, but parts of southern Ontario are under a heat warning under similar weather conditions.

The UV index over the next couple days is at a very high level as well, making time in the sun dangerous if not careful.

Temperatures cool off a bit mid-week to the mid-20s but have a chance of showers as well.

This is before the temperature is expected to climb back to the high 20s and low 30s into the weekend.
