In photos: Snowbirds, Italian Airforce fly over Ottawa

The Italian Airforce Aerobatic Team, Frecce Tricolori, flew over the nation’s capital with the Royal Canadian Airforce’s Snowbirds.

The event was part of a North American tour for the Italian jets honouring the first time in more than 30 years since the Frecce Tricolori flew across Canada and the United States during its last mission. The tour is meant to represent “Italian excellence”, a press release reads.

At noon on June 25, Frecce Tricolori was joined by the Snowbirds to conduct a joint show over Ottawa before heading to Montreal in the afternoon.

People in Ottawa did not hesitate to snap photos and videos of the event, which saw the jets zip across the sky leaving trails of green, white and red — Italy’s flag colours — behind them.
