Man charged with attempted homicide after stabbing on Montreal Road

A 38-year-old man is facing numerous offences following, what police are calling, an attempted homicide on June 13.

Paramedics found a man lying on the ground in the 700 block of Montreal Road at 2:30 a.m. in mid June. He sustained serious injuries from being stabbed.

Emergency responders provided medical assistance and transported him to the hospital.

Now police are charging Mohamed Aden, of Ottawa, after their investigation. Aden was arrested on July 22 by the East Criminal Investigation Unit for:

  • Attempted murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with weapon
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of prohibited weapon
  • Possess prohibited weapon
  • Possess weapon dangerous

Police also said when they arrested Aden they found Fentanyl, Hydromorphone, Crack, Cocaine and Synthetic Cathinone (bath salts) in his possession.

Ottawa police’s drug unit then charged him with:

  • Possession of schedule I for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possess property obtained by crime under $5000

He is scheduled to appear in court on July 26 and until then remains in custody.
