OPP charge driver for towing boat full of unsecure items on Hwy. 416

A driver towing a boat full of unsecure items on Highway 416 is now facing several charges.

Around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, the Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received complaints.

Officers located the van on the highway in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal, travelling slowly and backing up traffic.

According to the OPP, the items in the boat included an entire trailer and the van also had a broken back window.

The driver was charged with several traffic offences.

The OPP is reminding the public to always secure items being towed, adding that drivers could be charged if any item becomes insecure and causes a collision.
