OPS searching for suspect in ByWard Market store theft

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is asking the public for help in identifying a suspect involved in a commercial theft in the 300 block of Dalhousie Street on August 12th.

According to OPS, the suspect entered the store around 11:30 p.m. He proceeded to jump onto the counter and stole the entire cash drawer, fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect has been identified as a white male in his 30’s, approximately 5’7” tall, with a medium build, dark brown hair and facial hair, said OPS in a press release.

The suspect was seen wearing a black sweatshirt with a white logo on the front, black Adidas sweatpants and black shoes with white soles, said Ottawa Police.

OPS also noted the suspect’s distinct tattoos on his right hand.
