Ottawa firefighters knock down early morning blaze in Centretown

There are no injuries reported following an early morning blaze in Centretown.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a four-storey residential building in the 400 block of Bant Street, near Gladstone, shortly after 3 a.m. in Friday, May 10.

A 9-1-1 caller had reported a fire along the side of the building.

Firefighters declared a working fire upon arrival, and while the outside portion of the fire was quickly knocked down, crews found it had extended into one of the units.

The fire was declared under control at 4:05 a.m.

An Ottawa fire investigator responded to the scene and will now work to determine the origin and cause.

The Canadian Red Cross and the Salvation Army are assisting those affected by the blaze.
