A local nonprofit is planning to fill thousands of bags with school supplies for children in just 24 hours.
The aim of the first ever 24-hour Pack-a-Thon is to fill over 2,000 backpacks with school supplies for children in Ottawa Community Housing (OCH).
The fundraiser is being led by the Ottawa Community Housing Foundation through its’ Pack-a-Sack program. The initiative will bring 17 Ottawa organizations together for the inaugural event, which is being held on Friday, Aug. 9 at 811 Gladstone Ave.
In a release, the foundation says preparing to return to school is incredibly stressful for most families, as expenses quickly add up when purchasing school supplies.
The goal of the fundraiser is to reduce stress on families and gets children back to school ready to learn.
