Ottawa’s Julie Brousseau set to make Olympic debut

Ottawa’s Julie Brousseau is heading to her first Olympic Summer Games.

The 18-year-old is among many notable Canadian swimmers heading to the Paris 2024 Olympics, including Maggie Mac Neil, Summer McIntosh and Penny Oleksiak.

Athletes were chosen for Team Canada based on performances at the 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Swimming Trials on May 13 to 19. 

Brousseau appeared at the Pan American Games winning gold in the 400m IM, 5th in 400m freestyle, gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay and bronze in the 4×200 freestyle relay.

Prior, she tied a record for most medals won at a single Canada Games in 2022. 
Paris Olympic swimming competitions will take place July 27 to August 4 (Days 1 to 9) at the Paris La Défense Arena while the women’s marathon event will take place on August 8 (Day 13) at the Pont Alexandre III venue.
