Police have ruled out homicide in their investigation into the death of a man who burns in downtown.
Emergency crews responded to the 100 block of Queen Street just after 6 a.m. on Oct. 14 where they found a person suffering serious burns. He was sent to hospital fighting for his life, where he succumbed to his injuries.
In the aftermath of his death, the homicide unit took charge, which confirmed on Oct. 17 that there was no foul play involved.
The Ottawa police’s arson unit will continue to investigate to determine the materials or substances and origin of the fire.
“Investigation can confidently confirm that no one else was involved in setting the fire that led to the man’s death,” the release states.
