Police looking for female suspect after recovering a stolen vehicle

Officers from the Ottawa detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are looking for a female that fled after a vehicle theft.

According to officials, an officer was alerted just before 6:00 a.m. on Sept. 21 of a possible stolen vehicle by the cruiser’s Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

The camera in the police vehicle can recognize licence plates and assist officials in catching those that are unregistered, stolen or if the driver faces an infraction.

One person was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and driving while under suspension.

Police are still looking to speak with a female passenger of the vehicle who fled the scene.
