Ottawa police are asking the public to be vigilant after poisoned pieces of bread were found on a residential street in Orleans.
Officers say a member of the public discovered a number of pieces of bread scattered in a grassy area on Rolling Meadow Crescent, where many people walk their dogs.
Inside the bread were pills believed to contain a poisonous substance harmful to dogs.
Investigators spoke with residents, collected evidence and sent work crews out to clean the affected area to make it safe again.
They are asking residents to stay alert and report any similar incidents to police.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
