Prepare for traffic disruptions in downtown Ottawa this weekend

The Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend is returning to the Nation’s Capital this weekend.

The event begins and ends at Ottawa City Hall — located at 110 Laurier Avenue West — kicking off at 2 p.m May 25.

Intermittent lane reductions and closures are expected Saturday, as early as 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., and Sunday, as early as 5 a.m. until 2p.m.

The following is a list of major roads impacted during the event:

  • Laurier Avenue
  • Elgin Street
  • O’Connor Street
  • Wellington Street
  • Bronson Avenue
  • Colonel By Drive
  • Pretoria Bridge
  • Queen Elizabeth Drive
  • Preston Street
  • Carling Avenue
  • Gladstone Avenue
  • Kichi Zībī Mīkan Parkway
  • Booth Street
  • Rideau Street
  • MacKenzie Avenue
  • Sussex Drive
  • Sir George Étienne Cartier Parkway

Updates on construction and roadwork can be found on the City of Ottawa’s traffic map or by following the City’s traffic account on X.

The following OC Transpo bus routes will be impacted by road closures and event activity:

  • OC Transpo routes 5, 6, 7, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19, and 55 will be detoured on Saturday, May 25.
  • OC Transpo routes R2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 14, 18, 19, 55, and 85 will be detoured on Sunday, May 26.
  • Para Transpo travel times may be affected by planned road closures.
