Spring and summer are construction season in Ottawa, with multiple impacts for commuters across the city.
Multiple Highway 417 closures are planned for the first week of June bringing possible longer drives for people to the city. Some closures will be ongoing for several months whereas others are for a shorter period of time.
The following is a list of road closures starting today in the Nation’s Capital, based on the City of Ottawa website:
Construction this week
- Maclaren closed between Bronson and Bay: From June 3 to November 29.
- Highway 417 Westbound, Leitrim Road to Innes Road: Recurring-Maintenance, alternating lanes. From 10:00 a.m. June 3 to June 7 at 3:30 p.m..
- Highway 417 Eastbound, Woodroffe Avenue: Right lane closed Hwy 417 E/B at Woodroffe (Ottawa); OC Transit off ramp closed. From June 3 to June 4 at 6:00 a.m.
- Highway 417 Eastbound, Maitland Avenue – O’Connor Street: Recurring-construction, 1 right lane. From June 3 to June 8 at 6 a.m.
- Highway 417 Eastbound, Holly Acres Road Exit: Recurring-Construction, left lane(s). From June 2 to June 7 at 6 a.m.
- Highway 417 Eastbound, Innes Road – Leitrim Road: Recurring-Maintenance, one alternating lane(s). From June 2 to June 7 at 3:30 p.m.
- Highway 417 Westbound, Richmond Road/Bayshore Drive – Holly Acres Road Exit – Recurring-Construction, one right lane(s). From June 2 to June 7 at 6:00 a.m.
Ongoing road closures
- Albert between Bay and Empress: Albert reduced to one lane between Bay and Empress due to construction from April 15 to July 26.
- Carling between Old Irving and Bayswater: Carling lane reductions in both directions between Old Irving and Bayswater from May 6 to July 22.
- Carp between Donald B. Munro and Thomas A. Dolan: Carp lane reduction in both directions between Donald B. Munro and Thomas A. Dolan. Use other routes from April 22 to August 30.
- Glebe between Bank and O’Connor: Glebe closed between Bank and O’Connor from May 14 to November 5.
- Highway 417 Eastbound On-ramp, Parkdale Avenue: Parkdale on-ramp closed from May 13 to August 25.
- Highway 417 Westbound Off-ramp, Aviation Parkway: All lanes closed from May 24 until November 29.
- Highway 417 Westbound On-ramp, Pinecrest Avenue – Greenbank Road: All lanes closed. On-ramp closed until August 2024.
- Oakland is closed between Monk and Wilton: Follow the signed detour. From May 13 to July 31.
- Rideau Valley lane reductions in both directions between Bankfield and Prince of Wales from May 27 to June 28.
- Scott closed between Holland and Bayview Station: Follow the signed detour from March 4 to November 15.
Upcoming road closures
- Carling between Melrose and Merivale: Carling will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Melrose and Merivale due to construction. Every night from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. from June 5 to July 30.
