A vehicle rolled over and was in the ditch of Smith Road in North Grenville this morning due to slippery conditions.
Provincial police responded to the area and said the driver was going slow enough that even though they lost control of the vehicle, there were no injuries.
“Ice build-up under snow happens a lot this time of year with fluctuating temperatures,” officials said in a post on X. “Always take your time on side roads and expect some ice on days like this one.”
In a previous message by provincial police, they said that there have been no “major” issues on their patrolled roadways, but that several minor collisions have happened. These are being described as cars going into ditches or colliding with each other.
Officials are imploring people to drive according to road conditions by leaving extra space when following, slowing down and keeping an eye on the road.
“It’s also a good idea to check that windshield washer reservoir.”
Police are warning people to stay vigilant as a few more centimetres of snow is expected in the nation’s capital on Thursday.
According to Environment Canada, people can expect between 2 to 4 centimetres of snow with wind gusts picking up into the afternoon. It is likely to feel like -10 C by this afternoon with flurries clearing out of the city overnight.
A cold front is sweeping into Ottawa, with data from the weather agency suggesting it will be -17 C overnight on Thursday. The winds are supposed to become lighter around noon on Friday with a low of -12 C.
