Russell County OPP seeking witnesses to fatal collision involving motorcycle

Provincial police are looking for witnesses to a fatal collision in Russell.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, member of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the crash between a motorcycle and SUV on Craig Street, west of Hamilton Road.

The Prescott-Russell Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Russell Township Fire Services and the OPP’s Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team also responded to the scene.

Shortly after the OPP and EMS arrived on the scene, the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased. According to the OPP, the motorcyclist had a suspended drivers’ licence.

The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Craig Street between Hamilton Road and Boundary Road remained closed till approximately 7:25 a.m. this morning for the investigation, which is ongoing.
