Shaw Centre renamed to Rogers Centre Ottawa with new agreement

A ten-year naming rights agreement with Rogers has changed the Ottawa Convention Centre’s name to the Rogers Centre Ottawa on Oct. 23.

The centre located on the Rideau Canal in the nation’s capital offers many events throughout the year including conferences, exhibits, graduations and conventions. The building first opened in 2011 and has hosted thousands of events since.

“We’re thrilled to partner with an Ottawa institution and iconic part of the city skyline,” Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer, Rogers. “Rogers Centre Ottawa will continue to be one of the most successful convention centres in the country, known as a premier gathering place for national and international events.”

Previously named the Shaw Centre, the updates to the website and signage will take place over the next few months.

“Today’s announcement of Rogers as our new naming rights partner is a significant milestone for the Ottawa Convention Centre,” Nina Kressler, President and CEO of the Ottawa Convention Centre, said. “We are excited about the possibilities this partnership will bring, not only for our clients and guests but for the entire Ottawa community.”

Rogers Communications is the parent company of CityNews and its affiliates.
