A pilot has walked away with minor injuries after crashing a small plane near Smiths Falls over the weekend.
The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the Russ Beach Airport, just east of Smiths Falls, shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.
The pilot, a man from Elizabethtown-Kitley, had been conducting a training flight, simulating repeated take off and landing maneuvers.
During one of the maneuvers, the Cessna 172 lost power and crashed about half a kilometre from the runway.
The pilot, who had been alone in the plane, was able to walk to the Smiths Falls Flying Club’s facility.
The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) has been notified of the crash.
