Suspect to ID in Centretown assault after victim cancelled an online sale

Ottawa Police are looking for a suspect who they say assaulted a woman after she decided not to sell an item online to him.

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) says it happened on Feb. 27 in the 100 block of Argyle Avenue.

Police say the suspect first attempted to buy an item from a woman who later changed her mind and cancelled the transaction. They say he then used a fake name to pretend to buy another item for sale online, met up at her home and assaulted her after arguing with her that she had cancelled the previous transaction.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Police describe the suspect as a light skinned male, between 18 to 24 years old, five-foot-ten, with a slim build, and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a grey jacket with a hood, dark pants and shoes, and a black backpack.

OPS asks anyone with information on the suspect to call the Central Criminal Investigations Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5166 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
