Tesla driver charged after going 59 km/h over speed limit

The Ottawa detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police caught and charged the driver of a Tesla car with stunt driving.

The vehicle was travelling westbound on Highway 417 on June 3 before police stopped the vehicle going 159 km/h just before the Eagleson and March Road exit.

The driver received a 30-day suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound. The accused also faces a $2,000 fine, a 6 demerit point loss and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction, police said.
