Three Ottawa-area restaurants dubbed top 100 romantic spots: OpenTable

There are two restaurants in the nation’s capital and one in Gatineau that have been named some of themost romantic spots in Canada, new data shared by an online reservation site reads.

According to OpenTable, it used data from an online survey of 1,510 Canadians, reservation numbers from a year prior and almost a million reviews on its platform to figure out which restaurants in Canada were dubbed the top 100 most romantic.

There are 59 restaurants in Ontario, 16 in British Columbia, 14 in Alberta, nine in Quebec, one in Nova Scotia and one in New Brunswick on the list.

“Canadians are seeking more than just a meal, with experience dining, such as tasting menus or wine pairings, for Valentine’s Day in 2024 showing a 60 per cent increase year over year,” OpenTable says of the data.

One of the restaurants in Ottawa is North and Navy, located downtown on Nepean Street. OpenTable describes it as a northern Italian kitchen inspired by Venice.

“We play off the similarities between the climates of Eastern Ontario and Northeast Italy, and create our take on classic dishes made with seasonal game, seafood and vegetables,” the description reads. “Plus, sometimes we’ll just add whatever we want.”

Another downtown spot also topped the list. Rivera on Sparks Streetis a “top-notch dining experience,” as one review reads, with upscale meals and options for outdoor seating.

Across the river in Gatineau at Casino Lac Leamy, Arôme made the list of one of the most romantic restaurants in Canada.

The seafood and grill boasts its functionality for all events including “a romantic evening with your significant other.”

The description on OpenTable notes it is ” the place for a unique experience where your senses will be tantalized in a relaxed and friendly ambiance,” with a view of Lac Carrière.
