The driver of a tractor trailer had to be airlifted to hospital after crashing into trees on the side of a road southeast of Ottawa.
The Ottawa Fire Service (OFS) says they responded to Anderson Road off westbound Highway 417 at around 1:50 p.m. on Monday to a tractor trailer that left the road.
Fire crews found the vehicle crashed into trees and stuck. The driver wasn’t trapped but firefighters say they had to take them out on a backboard because of their injuries.
Ornge airlifted the driver to hospital. There is no word on their condition yet.
OFS says the diesel tank also ruptured during the accident so the HazMat team was dispatched to the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
