Ontario Provincial Police opened an investigation after two people were found dead in a home in South Glengarry, southeast of the nation’s capital.
The incident happened on Feb. 2 at around 9:00 p.m. when officers from the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) detachment were called for a home invasion. They responded to a residence on Old Highway 2 where two people had gunshot wounds.
A news release says that when officers arrived, the two men were found dead, and a third person had run away before police arrived. An “extensive” search by OPP units and police dogs did not turn up the person. Officials believe that they left the area.
The residents of the home were not injured in the incident. Police said they took two people into custody and a firearm was seized. There is no threat to public safety as officials believe this was a targeted incident.
Throughout the ongoing police investigation, people can expect an officer presence in the area.
Anyone with any information that could assist the investigation or help locate the third person, is urged to contact the SD&G OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
