Two people charged after drug trafficking investigation in Kanata

Ottawa police and the provincial police force teamed up to crack down on a drug trafficking investigation in Ottawa’s west end.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) opened a drug case in September 2024 in the community of Kanata. Months later on Jan. 22 a search warrant was used on a home on Coldwater Crescent.

When inside police found a number of items used for trafficking as well as large quantities of drugs:

  • 2.7 kilograms of suspected cocaine
  • Ammunition
  • $700 in Canadian currency
  • Jewelry
  • Money counters
  • A digital scale
  • Packaging material

Two people were arrested after the investigation.

Austin Greaves, 26, of Kanata is charged with:

  • Breach of prohibition order
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

Haley Capello, 25, of Kanata is facing:

  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

Both were released from custody and are set to appear in front of the Ontario court of justice in Ottawa.
