Three young people from the greater Montreal area are awaiting charges after police from multiple jurisdictions tracked a stolen vehicle.
It started with a 911 call reporting a stolen Toyota Highlander from the west end of Ottawa just after 7:00 p.m. yesterday. The vehicle tracker and live updates provided by the owner allowed officers from Ottawa police to follow the SUV keeping a safe distance, while a plan was put in place with Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The driver refused to stop at a designated highway on-ramp leading to, what police describe as, “brief contact with cruisers.” A pursuit started but ended quickly due to the unsafe road conditions.
Finally, officers tracked the vehicle to an area outside Ottawa, where OPP was able to arrest multiple suspects who are now in Ottawa police custody.
A 20-year-old, an 18-year-old and a 15-year-old were apprehended.
