U Ottawa defeats Carleton in close 35-32 Panda Game

Pedro is making his way back home to Sandy Hill for the sixth year in a row following a close win for the University of Ottawa at the 55th Panda Game.

The Panda Game is an annual match that brings together the football teams from University of Ottawa and Carleton University for the first time of the season. It is an event well attended by both student bodies, signaling pride for the Ottawa universities and a healthy competitive spirit.

The Ravens were leading over the GeeGees 21-11 at halftime but were overtaken in the second half.

With just over a minute left in the fourth quarter the GeeGees were leading 35-24, making many believe the game was over. But with renewed strength, Carleton put everything it had into a comeback with a 55-yard pass that brought the Ravens within five points.

But it wasn’t enough to break the GeeGees winning streak.

A 7-yard sack left the Ravens scrambling to make a 54-yard field goal, but the kick landed five yards short giving the University of Ottawa the victory.

Ottawa Police Services is reminding students to remain safe and respectful at any celebrations happening this evening.
