Weekend weather wrap-up: Temperatures dip before rising again

It is a cold morning in the nation’s capital after a snowy few days.

After an Alberta Clipper brought over 10 centimetres of snow to some parts of Ottawa earlier this week, a cold front has dropped temperatures well below normal. this time of year it should be between -2 C and -9 C.

According to Environment Canada, the wind chill is making it feel more like -17 C on Friday morning. Temperatures will rise to -10 C with a mix of sun and cloud in the afternoon. Wind gusts could be as strong as 50 km/h today.

Saturday’s temperatures overnight will continue to be chilly.

It will feel like -15 C in the morning and is expected to rise to -7 C by Saturday afternoon. The weather agency predicts there’s a 40 per cent chance of flurries.

Temperatures will start rising overnight on Saturday with a high of 3 C and a low of -5 C.

Rain showers appear in the forecast early next week.
