The final long weekend of summer is upon us.
For those looking to get out and enjoy the Labour Day long weekend, keep in mind some businesses will be closed or operating at reduced hours.
Here’s your full rundown:
Banks and government offices will be closed on Monday and there is no mail delivery.
LCBO locations will be closed, while the following Ottawa Beer Store locations will be open:
- 1860 Bank Street – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- 1984 Baseline Road – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- 515 Somerset Street West – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- 548 Montreal Road – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Grocery/pharmacy:
- Most stores, malls and grocery stores are closed, with the exception of the Loblaws on Rideau Street, which will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- The Whole Foods at Lansdowne will also be open Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Stores in the ByWard Market, Glebe and Lansdowne Park are permitted to open, including the Rideau Centre, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- The Tanger Outlet Mall will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Many pharmacies are open on Monday, including Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall and I.D.A. locations.
- SAQ’s locations are open in Quebec unless they are located inside a mall.
Client services:
- The City’s 3-1-1 Contact Centre will be open for urgent matters only. Please visit ottawa.ca/311 for more information.
- The Client Service Centres at Ottawa City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West), Ben Franklin Place (101 Centrepointe Drive), in Kanata (580 Terry Fox Drive), in Orleans (255 Centrum Boulevard) and the City’s Provincial Offences Court at 100 Constellation Drive will be closed.
- The Business Licensing Centre at 735 Industrial Avenue will be closed.
- The City of Ottawa Spay and Neuter clinic at 26 Concourse Gate will be closed.
Garbage, green bin and recycling collection:
- There will be no curbside collection of green bins, recycling or garbage.
- Collection scheduled for Monday will be collected on Tuesday, with collection delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
- Garbage at multi-residential properties will be collected on the regularly scheduled day.
- Collection of recycling and green bins will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.
- The Trail Waste Facility will be open on Labour Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Parking:
All parking restrictions are in effect.
Transit:
- O-Train Line 1 service will run from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Line 2 bus service will run from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Shuttle Express service and Shopper Route 301 will not operate. Use OC Transpo’s Travel Planner to plan your trip.
- Special weekend service to summer destinations will operate throughout the weekend and on Monday, September 4, with service to:
- The Canada Aviation and Space Museum on Route 25.
- Petrie Island on Route 139.
- The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum on Route 185.
- Para Transpo service will be available over the long weekend. However, regular scheduled Monday trips will automatically be cancelled for Monday, Sept. 4. Customers can book trips for Labour Day between Monday, Aug. 28 and Monday, Sept. 4 by using My Para Transpo or calling 613-560-5000.
- OC Transpo’s Customer Service Centre located at the Rideau Centre will be open with adjusted hours on Monday (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

Recreation services:
- Some indoor and outdoor pools will be open for public swimming, with modified schedules.
- Some weight and cardio rooms will be open with modified schedules.
- Most registered programs will be cancelled but check with your facility to confirm as some exceptions will apply.
- Lifeguard supervision is no longer provided at City of Ottawa beaches. Washrooms at Mooney’s Bay, Britannia Beach and Petrie Island remain open. Splash pads will also be open.
Ottawa Public Health services:
- The Site program office and supervised consumption services at 179 Clarence Street will be closed. The Site mobile van will operate from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
- Visit the ParentingInOttawa web page for vaccination clinic hours and availability.
- The Sexual Health Clinic and satellite clinics will be closed.
- The Ottawa Public Health Information Centre and the COVID-19 booking line will be closed.
- Dental clinics will be closed.
- The Parenting-In-Ottawa drop-ins will be closed.
- Visit the COVID-19 Vaccine page for vaccination clinic hours and availability.
- Connect with a registered nurse from Health811 for free, secure, and confidential health advice. Service is available in English and French, with translation support also offered in other languages.

Municipal childcare services:
- City-operated childcare centres are closed.
