Environment Canada lifts freezing rain warning for Ottawa

Environment Canada has lifted a freezing rain warning that had been in effect since Friday. 

There remains a risk of freezing drizzle throughout the night and into Sunday morning.

A freezing rain warning remains in effect in western Quebec, including Gatineau. A rainfall warning has been issued for the Kingston region, with 20 to 40 millimetres of rain forecasted on Sunday.

Freezing rain fell on Ottawa throughout the day on Saturday. Environment Canada says to expect slippery road conditions.

The City of Ottawa says its crews are treating sidewalks, arterial roads and the winter cycling network.

Environment Canada calls for a high of -4 C with periods of freezing drizzle tonight. 

Sunday will have a high of 6 C and a 30 per cent chance of showers or drizzle. Approximately 5 to 10 millimetres of rain are forecasted on Sunday afternoon and into the evening. 

The unseasonably higher-than-normal temperatures will continue through Monday with a high of 5 C and a 60 per cent chance of showers. A low of 1 C and a 30 per cent chance showers.are expected overnight.

The average temperatures for this time of year are a high of -5 C and a low of -14 C, according to Environment Canada.
