Ottawa police officers take children on Christmas shopping spree

It’s a tradition this time of year.

Ottawa police officers and Carlingwood Shopping Centre gave children in the city an early Christmas present with their annual “Shop with a Cop” event.

Twenty-five children from St. Elizabeth School went on a shopping spree, with a $200 gift card donated by the mall.

This is the 17th year that Ottawa Police Service has organized the event. Officers treat the kids to lunch and a visit with Santa Claus before escorting them through the mall where they help the children complete their shopping wish lists.

The shopping spree paired each police officer with a child, creating a memorable experience for both. The children eagerly explored stores throughout the mall, looking for their favourite items to buy.

More details to come.
