Ottawa Fire Services says crews have extricated a trapped woman, 31, following a two-vehicle collision that happened at a major east Ottawa intersection Sunday morning.
Firefighters say they received a call around 10:30 a.m. reporting a collision on Blair and Ogilvie roads. Upon arrival, crews found a trapped driver and an infant in the back of a car.
Crews immediately started the extrication process using specialized tools to remove the the driver’s door of the vehicle, Ottawa Fire spokesperson Nick Defazio told CTV News Ottawa in a statement.
The driver was safely extricated at 10:49. Crews also safely removed the infant from the vehicle, Defazio adds.
Ottawa Paramedics spokesperson Jennifer Alexander told CTV News Ottawa the 31-year-old woman sustained serious, but stable injuries.
The 2-year-old infant sustained minor injuries, she adds.
Both were taken to hospital.
