The Nation man charged after crashing into railway crossing arm

Ontario Provincial Police arrested a 67-year-old man on impaired driving charges after he crashed into a railway crossing arm in The Nation Township.

Officers were called on June 2 at approximately 6:50 p.m. to a collision on Limoges Road after receiving reports of a car crashing into a Via Rail crossing arm.

During the investigation, the driver failed a test with an Approved Screening Device (ASD). He was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

The 67-year-old from The Nation Township was charged with two impaired driving-related charges.

The man received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 45-days.

He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

The Nation Township is located approximately 75 kilometres east of downtown Ottawa.
